Western Undergraduate Exchange
If you live in one of the 14 participating states, you may be eligible for a significant reduction in non-resident tuition.

Loans provide borrowed money that must be repaid with interest. There are many types of student loans, which may or may not be need-based. The Financial Aid office will determine your eligibility.

Employment or work-study allows you to earn money to help pay for educational expenses while enrolled in school. Work Study programs provide students with employment opportunities both on and off campus, though it is up to you to secure employment. Participation in this program is typically based on financial need.

What do I need to apply?
FAFSA
To apply for federal student aid, you need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually.
There are a few things you will need in order to fill out a FAFSA:
- ISU's FAFSA code: 001620
- Your Social Security number
- Your FSA ID, which you can get on the FAFSA website

Deadlines
FAFSA applications are open for long periods of time and can even be completed after the school year begins.
However, it is recommended that you complete the application as soon as possible.
Scholarships
ISU is a comprehensive university that offers scholarships to help you finance your education. Many students compete for scholarships which are awarded based on merit and/or financial need.

BOSS
ISU uses BOSS (Bengal Online Scholarship System) for scholarship applications.
We STRONGLY encourage all students to log into BOSS monthly, especially the months of January, February, March of each year. BOSS shows students recommended scholarships for which they should apply for and allows students to see the status of scholarships for which they have already applied. Students can also search for outside/local scholarships by visiting the "external" section of BOSS.
